  • Is there any effective tool for hedging of your grain?

The Black Sea region is of major importance as a producer and exporter of grain to the rest of the world. With the complex risks businesses face in uncertain and volatile markets, the need for effective hedging tools to manage price risk is vital. The CME Group cash settled (Platts) Black Sea Wheat and Corn futures and options provide grain businesses with effective price and counterparty risk management tools for the region. CME Group will be presenting how these contracts work, their correlation to Black Sea cash markets, liquidity and participation and how to access the contracts?

  • Who is selling most expensively its grain in the Black Sea?

Surrounded by the “giants” – Russia and Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania are not expected to market their grain at competitive prices within the Black Sea basin (region). Is that so, and where Bulgaria and Romania are positioned оn the grain markets?
Zlatomir Kovachev will analyze this and give a different perspective of the market.

  • Would Russia be in a position to keep its number one place among the global wheat exporters?

Russian all grains and wheat export pace is more or less satisfactory, but internal prices are being perpetually kept at above export parity levels, which makes exporters activities loss-making. Why is it so and what is going to happen? Would Russia be in a position to keep its number one place among the global wheat exporters?

  • Main challenges and timing for best marketing оf your grain if you trade the Balkans’ origins!

At the 4th annual Grain Academy in Varna I will identify the short-term and long-term regional challenges in Romania which can been seen across the Balkans and discuss the key periods and issues which can drive price in 2019/20. As we move beyond the 2019 harvest, again market participants are focusing on an overall production recovery in the Balkan/Black Sea region and an apparent lack of consumer demand as the key price driver.  If market participants, particularly consumers/traders, are working on the premise of “large balance sheets = equals small prices” then they once again are running the risk of becoming complacent.
